Goal: Develop a useful and at-a-glance experience to enable instructors to gauge their student’s course performance.

Defining & ideating

Working directly with internal stakeholders, we kicked off the design with a week long brainstorming session. We built an empathy map, align on goals, and provided context to larger business motivates for the platform.

Iterating

We needed to implement the new workflow and features in to an existing platform. The goal was to utilize as many defined styles and patterns that already existed in the interface to limit dev time. However, there was a need for larger complex design systems to be created.

Prototyping complex features

With the heavy amount of course and student data, the need for a filtering system was quickly apparent. We needed to provide the user with the ability to quickly sort through hundreds of courses or students by various criteria. This filtering system needed to function as well, if not better, on mobile.

UI audit & component library

Since we were designing new features for an existing interface, we conducted a visual audit to define any inconsistencies and common patterns in the interface. From there we were able to define styles, add rules to elements and in turn, create a visually cohesive product for students and instructors alike.
